The
Municipal Center for History possesses today a rich archive
that consists of the Volos Municipality archive (1883-1982),
46 private archives concerning directly or indirectly the
city and its greater area, archives of old industrial enterprises,
as well as important material of building plans, maps, aerial
photos, transparencies and photos.
The
library of Volos's Municipal Center for History and Documentation
started operating in 1992, its aim being the collection,
administration, utilization and promotion of any kind or
form of printed documents.
The map of Volos is a tour guide for Volos and Nea Ionia but also for Magnesia. Under the supervision of Volos Municipal Centre for Historical Research and Documentation and also the academic supervisor of the architect-planner, professor at Aristotle University of Thessaloniki Vilma Hastaoglou-Martinidis.
Except the useful information that makes easy the stay and the movement in the city it contains the sights that compose its physiognomy.

In the first side it contains in big scale the city roads and the buildings that have architectural interest, separated in periods, the buildings that constitute the industrial heritage with their new uses, the public and municipal buildings, the churches, the spaces of events and culture, the spaces of sports, the squares and the parks. This information is accompanied by texts that sketch out the history of city, framed with the proportional photographic material.
In the other side there is a guide of archaeological spaces and monuments of Magnesia as well as road - tourist map with the villages and the beaches.
